About the Role

The Global Category Manager - Energy will lead strategic energy procurement, supplier management, and contract optimization to deliver cost-effective and reliable energy solutions while supporting Newmont’s decarbonization goals. This role will oversee sourcing, procurement, and contract management, working closely with regional supply chain teams and key stakeholders to enhance efficiency, compliance, and sustainability.

Your Role Will Consist Of:
Here’s a snapshot of your day-to-day responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute global energy procurement strategies to deliver safe, reliable, cost efficient and sustainable energy to Newmont’s operating sites across the globe.
  • Working with site and functional stakeholders, lead end to end strategic sourcing of energy supply solutions and progress Newmont’s decarbonisation goals.
  • Develop and manage Energy Supply Agreements (ESAs) and Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs).
  • Identify cost reduction and efficiency opportunities within global energy spend and build supply chain resilience by mitigating risks related to energy market volatility.
  • Engage and collaborate with internal cross function stakeholders to develop commercial energy strategies aligned to broader enterprise level objectives.
  • Implement Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) programs to enhance supplier performance.
  • Ensure compliance with Newmont’s procurement standards, energy regulations, and sustainability goals.
  • Support energy efficiency initiatives to optimize energy consumption and operational productivity.
Your Training, Skills, and Experience Checklist

What We’re Looking For
Education& Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Energy Management, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field.
  • 7 years of procurement, contracts, and strategic sourcing experience with a focus on energy procurement and category management.
  • Expertise in execution and management of Energy Supply Agreements (ESAs) and renewable Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), with a solid knowledge of commercial issues and risks associated with these.
  • Strong knowledge of global energy markets and regulations. Experience specifically in the Western Australian Wholesale Electricity Market (WEM) will be highly regarded.
  • Proven ability to evaluate and negotiate complex energy contracts and manage supplier relationships across diverse regions.
  • Exposure to global supply chains and energy markets, preferably in mining, manufacturing, or heavy industry.
Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in SAP, SAP Ariba, and contract management systems.
  • Strong analytical skills, with expertise in TCO analysis and cost optimization.
Soft Skills

  • Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels, including C-suite executives.
  • Strategic problem-solving mindset, balancing cost-efficiency, sustainability, and operational needs.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with experience in engaging cross-functional teams and external partners.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and drive results in a fast-paced global environment.
Working Conditions and Location

  • This position is based at the Denver Corporate Office or one of the Regional Hubs (preference for Melbourne, Perth, or Brisbane Australia).
  • Travel may be required to supplier sites, regional offices, and mining operations to facilitate global category management and supplier negotiations.
  • The role requires collaborating across different time zones, engaging with global teams and stakeholders

The salary range offered for this role is USD $108,000 - 141,750. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.
This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company’s performance and their own individual performance.
