Newport Aquarium Guest Service Host - Seasonal Part Time

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• We are hiring Seasonal positions serving our Spring and Summer break periods: Beginning of March through end of August
• Perform and adhere to Herschend's Core Values and Newport Aquarium Guest Service Standards, Policies and Procedures, and Safety Protocols to ensure safe and efficient guest service operations.
• Maintain a positive attitude and appearance at all times.
• Approach guests in a friendly manner to offer assistance and provide information regarding Newport Aquarium.
• Arrive on time and ready to work all scheduled shifts, and in accordance with aquarium uniform and appearance standards.
• Keep safety as a number one priority at all times while working at Newport Aquarium.
• Understand policies and procedures relating to the overall functions of Guest Service department.
• Work with other team members/departments of Newport Aquarium to ensure effective communication is implemented at all times
• Maintain knowledge of activities, aquatic life, and Newport Aquarium special events/promotions in order to properly notify and inform guests.
• Must be self-motivated to work independently, as well as, disciplined and reliable.
• Maintain appropriate guest and team member relations at all times, ensuring guest and team satisfaction.
• Demonstrates strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Responsible for property screening duties (metal detector).
• Ensure all visitors enter at scheduled date/time (Timed entry tickets).
• Guide guests without tickets to ticketing window.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Guest Service Management Team.
• On a daily basis, you can expect to:
  • Search bags by visual and/or mechanical device
  • Be able to work adjacent to and properly operate electronic Metal Detection Unit and hand held wands
  • Be able to scan Guests and deal professionally with any Guest that may need additional screening or has prohibited items in their possession
  • Provide professional Guest Services such as giving directions, answering questions, interacting with friendly conversation and representing the Company in a positive, family friendly manner
  • Be observant of any potentially suspicious activity and report same to an armed Security officer, Supervisor or Law Enforcement officer
  • Be able to work at multiple positions and assignments as the Company needs changes with rapid increases or decreases in the attendance flow
  • Be able to work in an outside environment, standing for an extended time, in all type of weather conditions

REQUIREMENTS:

• Successful completion of pre-employment background check
• Physical strength, including the ability to lift/push/pull/move up to 25 pounds (Crowd control stanchions)
• Outdoor duties dependent on weather conditions
• Ability to work a flexible schedule which includes evenings, weekends and/or holidays
