Overview

The Newport Beachside Hotel and Resort is undergoing an exciting transformation to relaunch as The Sunny. Our reimagined property will offer guests a blend of luxury and comfort, redefining the hospitality experience. To ensure the highest standards of guest satisfaction, we are seeking a skilled General Maintenance Engineer to join our team. This role is essential to maintaining the operational efficiency and safety of our facilities as we make this transition to The Sunny.

As a PM General Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of the hotel’s facilities, ensuring all systems are in excellent working condition. You will work closely with the engineering team to perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and respond to guest requests for repairs. Your attention to detail and technical expertise will help create a safe and welcoming environment for our guests and staff.

The future Sunny in the heart of Sunny Isles Beach is poised to redefine the beach getaway experience offering a perfect blend of rich history and unparalleled amenities. The resort will feature 339 spacious guest rooms, an eclectic private art collection, six food and beverage outlets, a fitness center, spa & salon, ocean-front pool with tiki bar and fire pits, beach club, and over 22,000 square feet of event space, including a unique oceanfront terrace. 

Responsibilities

What you will be doing:

• Perform regular inspections and preventive maintenance tasks on building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems, to ensure their optimal performance.
• Diagnose and repair issues in guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house facilities, including electrical malfunctions, plumbing leaks, and HVAC system breakdowns.
• Carry out various maintenance tasks such as painting, carpentry, and minor repairs to furniture, fixtures, and equipment to keep the property in top condition.
• Respond promptly to guest service requests and resolve maintenance issues in guest rooms and common areas to ensure a comfortable and pleasant stay.
• Ensure all maintenance work complies with safety standards and building codes. Follow all hotel safety policies, including lockout/tagout procedures and personal protective equipment (PPE) usage.
• Maintain and operate all tools and equipment safely and efficiently. Keep an organized inventory of maintenance supplies and request replenishment as needed.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance tasks, repairs, and inspections. Report any major issues or potential risks to the Chief Engineer or Engineering Manager.
• Work closely with other departments, such as housekeeping and front desk, to address maintenance concerns and ensure smooth operations throughout the hotel.
• Be prepared to respond to emergency situations, such as power outages, water leaks, or fire alarms, ensuring guest and staff safety at all times.
