What are the responsibilities and job description for the Child Watch Morning Staff position at Newport County YMCA?
POSITION SUMMARY:
Provides a quality experience to children and parents that focuses on the YMCA values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.
Morning Shift: 7:30am-12:30pm
Evening Shift: 4:00pm-7:30pm
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Greet families and children upon entering the Child Watch and Kids Adventure Center.
- Engage with all children in a loving and positive manner.
- Supervises daily activities/play areas during morning and evening hours.
- Supervises children during their play time.
- Maintains positive relationships and effective communication with parents.
- Adheres and enforces all Child Watch and Kids Adventure policies
- Maintains program site and equipment. Be sure tables/windows/toys are wiped down with disinfectant spray regularly throughout your shift. Notify Supervisor of any concerns.
- Follow all check in/out procedures.
- Attends and participates in required staff meetings and training.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- CPR, First Aid, AED certifications, OSHA, and Child Abuse prevention training within 30-days of hire date.
- Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting is preferred.
- Ability to supervise up to 20 children at a time- organize and manage program activities and free-play settings.
- Previous experience with diverse populations is preferred.
- Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
- Ability to work well and communicate effectively with co-workers.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must be able to lift 20 pounds.
- Must be able to move in a fast paced environment.
