About the Tuna Club:
The Tuna Club, a historic and prestigious establishment, is seeking a dedicated and versatile
Club Manager to oversee its daily operations and ensure a premier experience for its members
and guests. Nestled in Avalon, our iconic clubhouse requires a proactive leader with a passion
for hospitality, meticulous attention to detail, and a commitment to upholding the club's rich
traditions.
Role Summary:
The Club Manager is the cornerstone of the Tuna Club's operations, responsible for a wide
range of duties encompassing hospitality, facility management, event coordination, and member
relations. This dynamic role demands a multifaceted individual with exceptional organizational,
communication, and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Hospitality and Member Relations:
Serve as the primary on-site host, ensuring a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere for all
members and guests.
Maintain the Clubhouse facilities (including the Bait Box bar, porch, card room, guest
rooms, and public areas) in a clean, organized, and ready-to-use condition.
Enforce club rules and protocols (dress code, age requirements, etc.) with tact and
diplomacy.
Provide guidance and assistance to members and guests, ensuring their needs are met.
Facility Maintenance:
Oversee the annual maintenance plan for the historic Clubhouse, managing a
board-approved budget.
Perform basic maintenance tasks as needed, and coordinate and supervise external
vendors for larger projects.
Ensure all maintenance work is completed to a high standard and in a timely manner.
Event Planning:
Support and collaborate with Event Chairs for annual fishing tournaments and other
Clubhouse events.
Coordinate vendor selection and management (catering, bar service, etc.).
Manage facility setup, cleaning, and logistical requirements for events.
Annual Fishing Records and Awards:
Collect and manage catch records submitted by members, including tournament results.
Work with Tournament Chairs to calculate results and maintain the "Fishing Board."
Test fishing tackle for compliance with club rules.
Club Communications:
Distribute electronic club communications (emails, flyers, etc.) as directed by the Board or
Event Chairs.
Create flyers and other communications using tools like PowerPoint.
Respond to member inquiries via email and phone.
Liaison with CPA:
Provide necessary information to the club's CPA for financial record keeping, vendor
payments, billings, and tax filings.
Review and approve vendor bills before submission to the CPA.
Assist with the annual budgeting process.
Favorable consideration will be given to candidates with basic bookkeeping skills and
QuickBooks experience.
Compliance and Security:
Ensure Clubhouse facilities are used safely and in compliance with applicable laws and
regulations.
Maintain security measures and address any unauthorized access attempts.
Liaison with Avalon Officials and Residents:
Serve as a representative and liaison with Avalon officials and residents.
Facilitate requests for Clubhouse use from community organizations (with Board approval).
Ensure proper approvals are obtained for maintenance and other activities.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in hospitality, facility management, or a related field.
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
Experience with vendor management and project coordination.
Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Knowledge of or interest in fishing and related activities.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Resident of Avalon or willingness to relocate.
Bookkeeping skills and QuickBooks experience are highly desirable.
