What are the responsibilities and job description for the CT/X-Ray Technologist position at NEWPORT HOSPITAL AND HEALTH SERVICES?
Primary scheduled hours : 72 hours per pay period - Day Shift 12 hours shifts, No call, required every other Saturday
Job Summary :
Performs a variety of imaging procedures, including CT / X-Ray procedures as applicable, and is responsible for patient safety protocols. Functions as the first line interface with customers in the successful accomplishment of their imaging needs.
Essential Job Functions :
- Responsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing radiation therapy and use of equipment to minimize hazards of electric shock, burns and extraneous radiation to patients.
- Provides care appropriate to the condition and age of the patient, including pediatric, geriatric, and general population.
- Responsible for safe handling of equipment; performs a pre-procedure check on all equipment; provides preventive maintenance.
- Instructs and prepares patients for radiation therapy procedures.
- Determines most suitable anatomical posture and positions and shields patients accordingly.
- Reviews prescribed dosage of ionizing radiation for accuracy before all treatments.
- Practices medical and surgical asepsis at all times.
Education Background and Experience
Minimum Education :
Graduation from an AMA-approved school of Radiologic Technology.
Required Licensure / Certifications :
State licensure that permits them to perform diagnostic CT exams and documented training on the provision of diagnostic CT exams.
Registration and certification in radiography by ARRT and documented training on the provision of diagnostic CT exams.
Certification in nuclear medicine technology by ARRT or NMTCB and documented training on the provision of diagnostic CT exams.
Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
Required Experience :
One (1) year of radiologic / imaging experience.
Must be certified in CT registry within one year of hire.
Knowledge and understanding of general anatomy, physiology and medical terminology.
Possesses a high level of knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy.
Proficiency with most major CT / X-Ray equipment manufacturer's hardware and software (GE, Siemens, Toshiba).
Preferred Qualifications :
Bachelor of Science degree is preferred, but not required.
Prefer specific experience and training in CT.
