Primary Scheduled Hours: Per Diem, variable shifts. Applicants must have flexible availability.
Job Summary: Responsible for the cleaning of assigned areas of the hospital according to policies and procedures. Monitors laundering machines to clean articles such as sheets, towels, rags, wiping cloths and filter cloths by performing the following duties. Participates in the department’s performance improvement activities. Performs general facility cleaning and maintenance, including dusting, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning sinks and toilets, washing and waxing floors. May include ground maintenance.
Essential Job Functions:
- Perform all assigned tasks in a professional manner to reflect the highest integrity of the Environmental Services Department.
- Performs routine cleaning of patient rooms, nursing units, offices, clinical areas, waiting areas, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators and stairways in a clean, neat and sanitary manner.
- Completes work assignments in a timely manner.
- Utilizes the appropriate chemicals and supplies according to procedure.
- Uses and maintains equipment properly.
- Assists visitors with directions whenever requested.
- Always introduces self to patients, families and visitors.
- Reports safety hazards as appropriate.
- Transports trash and hazardous waste to appropriate disposal area.
- Replenishes supplies.
- Follows all infection prevention and control practices, including Standard Precautions, Transmission-Based Precautions and hand hygiene.
Education Background and Experience Requirements
Minimum Education:
High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED).
Required Experience:
One to three (1-3) months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

- Maintain regulatory requirements
- Report to work on time and as scheduled; complete work within designated timelines.
- Demonstrates the ability to adhere to the mission, ethics and goals of the District.
- Demonstrates the ability to communicate with patients, guests and staff in a courteous, respectful and helpful manner.

Successful candidates typically begin between the beginning and midpoint of the compensation range dependent on qualifications/experience and receive compensation in increments increases annually.
