What are the responsibilities and job description for the STAFFING COORDINATOR position at Newport Hospital and Health Services?
Primary Scheduled Hours: Days, 80 hours per pay period
Job Summary:
The staffing coordinator is responsible for creating and maintaining work schedules for clinical staff ensuring there is adequate coverage for patient care areas by coordinating shifts, managing time-off requests, and adjusting schedules as needed. The individual will perform clerical duties for the office and work collaboratively with each unit.
Essential Job Functions:
- Collaborate closely with unit managers, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to allocate staff effectively, considering patient needs, skill sets, and workload distribution.
- Enter staffing schedules electronically into UKG.
- Schedule/assign staff to cover vacation time and sick time.
- Assigns nursing staff in the float pool where needed.
- Calls in nursing staff when additional staffing is needed.
Education Background and Experience Requirements
Minimum Education:
High School graduate or equivalent
Required Experience:
Minimum of one (1) year experience in a healthcare facility.
Advanced computer skills and organization.
Preferred Qualifications:
Two (2) year degree, preferably in Medical Administration.
Administrative and scheduling experience in UKG or other scheduling software.

- Maintain regulatory requirements
- Report to work on time and as scheduled; complete work within designated timelines.
- Demonstrates the ability to adhere to the mission, ethics and goals of the District.
- Demonstrates the ability to communicate with patients, guests and staff in a courteous, respectful and helpful manner.

Successful candidates typically begin between the beginning and midpoint of the compensation range dependent on qualifications/experience and receive compensation in increments increases annually.
