What are the responsibilities and job description for the AVID Tutor position at Newport-Mesa Unified School District?
AVID stands for Advancement via Individual Determination. The AVID program focuses on enhancing the current curriculum and developing students’ skillset to support them now and beyond their K-12 years.
Under direct supervision of the AVID coordinator, tutors in the AVID program will provide academic and social support to intermediate and high school students who strive to attend college and achieve career success. Specifically, AVID tutors support students directly utilizing the AVID Tutorial model, where AVID tutors help facilitate meaningful study groups with students. Following employment, training in the AVID Tutorial model will be provided.

Hours of work vary and are flexible based on candidate’s schedule.
Hourly rate is $18.50/hr. • High School Diploma
• Current enrollment in or degree from an accredited community college or university
• Experience as a tutor or similar position preferred
