BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, work with bus driver to provide appropriate, safe, and positive guidance to students while they are being transported on District busses; oversee student behavior and ensure safe loading and unloading of students; ensure that students are released to adults according to District policy.

An eligibility list will be established for successful candidates which will be used to fill substitute and regular positions during the life of the list.
Examinations and interviews held to create the eligible list will be conducted virtually, using different online/internet platforms that require video recording or conferencing capabilities, as well as access to a computer with an internet connection and basic Microsoft Office Suite Software.
The virtual written examination is tentatively scheduled for the week of January 27th. The virtual qualifications appraisal interview (oral exam) is tentatively scheduled for the week of February 3rd. ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Be responsible for performing those duties which protect the health and safety of students while under the jurisdiction of the transportation department.
Provide positive guidance of students on the bus and inform supervisor of any problems.
Conduct inspections on appropriate equipment and report condition to supervisor.
Align non-wheelchair students in seats and assure that safety measures are followed for all students.
Assist the Bus Driver in securing wheelchairs properly to meet safety standards and check security of all straps and wheelchair trays.
Align student wheelchairs once placed on the bus and throughout the ride. Monitor alignment for safety, health and well-being of the student.
Be knowledgeable about all assigned student’s special needs.
Provide support to the Bus Driver in maintaining a safe and orderly environment.
Ensure student safety during emergency evacuation drills.
Inform the bus Driver/supervisor of any unsafe situations.
Work in cooperation and communicate positively with all District personnel, parents and staff.
Maintain confidentiality.
