BASIC FUNCTION:
Under general supervision, performs a wide variety of complex and specialized activities pertaining to college guidance matters for students.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and preferably two years of college, including or supplemented by training or coursework in college counseling or a related field and two years of experience working with high school-age students, preferably in a closely related position.

The supplemental questions to the application will be reviewed and rated for certification. These questions are required at the time of application and are qualifying.
An eligibility list will be established for successful candidates which will be used to fill open positions during the life of the list.
Given the current COVID-19-related closures of our offices and schools, examinations and interviewing will likely be done virtually using different online/internet platforms that required video recording or conferencing capabilities, as well as access to basic Microsoft Office Suite Software.
The written examination is tentatively scheduled for the week of October 5th. All who are successful with the written test will be invited to the oral exam(interview) which has been tentatively scheduled for the week of October 12th. You will be notified via email, as indicated on your application, regarding your ability to participate in the examination phase of this recruitment.

Performs a variety of activities and functions of a responsible and specialized nature, including college planning preparation and development of college materials to assist in the application process.
Prepares and updates college resources, reference data, and other related materials.
Updates school web site with all college and high school requirements and issues and trains students on the use of CollegeView, or related software programs.
Updates school's College and Career Handbook and maintains and adds to college catalogues.
Writes articles for school PTA newsletter and for all grade levels pertaining to college matters.
Contacts college representatives and organizes all college visits to campus and serves as liaison with PTA for College Night.
Conducts small group college counseling meetings and organizes workshops for students in various areas pertaining to college information.
Meets with middle school parents to discuss academic preparation for high school as it relates to college admission.
Provides financial aid information.
Accesses summer academic opportunities.
Coordinates activities with current Career Center staff, college counselor and counseling staff.
Arranges speaker programs that enhance student educational opportunities.
Assists in Career Center budget planning and expenditure control and prepares requisitions for supplies and materials.
May prepare correspondence, memoranda and other communication materials for review and distribution.
May participate in in-service programs to acquaint instructional personnel with college centered activities and objectives.
