POSITION: 2nd Shift Custodian @ Rogers High School (local funding)STARTING DATE: ImmediateGENERAL DUTIES: To perform all responsibilities necessary and as directed by the Principal to provide students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient place in which to learn, play and develop.REPORTS TO: Plant Engineer and PrincipalQUALIFICATIONS: 1.Graduation from high school or G.E.D.2.Must have knowledge of general maintenance and cleaning procedures.3.Must be reliable.4.Must be able to cooperate with administrators, teachers, and students.5.Must be able to make minor adjustments and/or repairs to building and equipment.6.Demonstrated ability to perform the responsibilities below as evidenced by educational and work-related experiences, previous employment and the interview process.7.Any such alternatives to the above qualifications as the committee deems acceptable and appropriate, provided that the above qualifications cannot be met.RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.Keeps buildings and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas neat and clean at all times.2.Cleans school in accordance with planned cleaning program. Assignment of sections will be made by the Principal and Plant Engineer Director.3.Regulates heat and ventilation to provide temperatures appropriate to the season and to ensure economical usage of fuel, water, and electricity.4.Shovels, plows, and sands walks, parking lots, driveways, and steps when needed.5.Moves furniture or equipment within building, as required for various activities and as directed.6.Checks daily to ensure that all exit doors are open and all panic bolts are working properly during the hours of building occupancy.Keeps the grounds free from rubbish.8. Performs such yard-keeping chores as grass cutting, tree trimming, and the like, as necessary, to maintain the school grounds in a safe and attractive condition.9.Complies with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish and waste.10.Assumes responsibility for building security during work shift.11.Ensures the operation of all Newport School Department property in case of all emergency conditions.12.Reports major repairs needed promptly to Plant Engineer or Principal.13.Reports immediately to the Principal and Plant Engineer any damage to school property.14.Performs other maintenance duties as assigned by the Principal and Plant Engineer.PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Walking, climbing, stooping, reaching, pushing, talking, pulling, crawling, crouching, lifting (50 pound minimum), handling, hearing, grasping, standing, kneeling, carrying, seeing, balancing and turning.WORKING CONDITIONS: Work inside/outside, adequate lighting/ventilation, work with/around others and work alone.WORK SCHEDULEAND SALARY: Salary in accordance with C94 Contract, Pay Grade 3.
