POSITION: Long Term English Language Arts Substitute Teacher2/26/25-5/21/25GENERAL DUTIES: To create an environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with students; to motivate students; to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for further education, in accordance with each students ability; and to establish good relationships with parents and with other staff members.REPORTS TO: Principal Q/UALIFICATIONS: 1.RIDE Certification preferred2. Evidence of developing teaching strategies that will address the unique needs of each student;3. Ability to know and utilize technology in the teaching and learning process;4. Demonstrated ability to perform the responsibilities below as evidenced by course work, education experience, teaching, educational experience, and the interview process;5.
Any such alternatives to the above qualifications as the committee may deem acceptable and appropriate.RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.Develops lesson plans, and instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student;2. Translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction;3. Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom;4. Evaluates students academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, and prepares progress reports;5.
Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss students progress and interpret the school program;6. Identifies students needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems;7. Creates an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers;8. Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and self-selected professional growth activities;9.
Selects and requisitions books and instructional aides, maintains required inventory records;10. Supervises students in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day;11. Administers group standardized tests in accordance with district testing program;12. Demonstrates an understanding of standards-based education and how it is implemented in the classroom;13.
Participates in curriculum development programs as required;14. Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of pupil activities;15.
