A highly respected New York City real estate law firm is expanding and seeking experienced attorneys to join its team. The firm is looking for candidates with expertise in Real Estate Litigation, Landlord-Tenant, or Cooperative and Condominium law. Key Responsibilities:
- Represent cooperative and condominium Boards in a broad range of legal matters, including shareholder disputes, common charge collection, sponsor litigation, and breach of contract cases.
- Handle commercial and residential landlord-tenant litigation in Civil Court and Supreme Court, including drafting predicate notices, pleadings, motions, and complex settlement agreements.
- Manage real estate litigation cases from pleadings to trial in state Supreme Court or federal courts, including discovery, motion practice, and depositions.
- Provide strategic legal advice and counsel to Boards and property owners on cooperative and condominium law, landlord-tenant disputes, and real estate litigation matters.
- Argue motions confidently in court and participate in negotiations and settlement discussions.
Qualifications:
- Cooperative and Condominium Attorney: Minimum 6 years of experience advising and counseling Boards on management and operations of cooperative and condominium buildings. Bankruptcy experience is a plus.
- Landlord-Tenant Attorney: Minimum 3 years of court experience handling landlord-tenant litigation, including drafting legal documents and representing clients in court.
- General Litigation Attorney: 3-6 years of experience managing real estate litigation from pleadings to trial. Appellate experience preferred but not required.
- Strong legal research, writing, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Admission to the New York State Bar.
- Billable Hours: No billable hour requirement – the more you work, the more you bill.
