Job Summary:
Reporting to the NewRange President & General Manager and working closely with the Finance and Audit Committee and the Board of Managers, the Finance Director will oversee the financial strategy and compliance functions while working closely with procurement & supply chain, IS&IT, and financial compliance functions. This role is responsible for ensuring financial governance, cost efficiency, regulatory compliance, and the effective management of financial compliance. The ideal candidate will have expertise in mining project financing, financial modeling, cost control, supply chain optimization, financial IT systems, and regulatory governance, with a strong focus on joint venture financial management.

Overview:
Located in the historic iron range mining region of northeastern Minnesota, NewRange is a 50:50 joint venture of subsidiaries of Teck American Inc. (Teck) and PolyMet Mining Corp. (Glencore) that is advancing two major copper-nickel-platinum-palladium deposits, NorthMet and Mesaba. Project activities range from readying the feasibility stage NorthMet project for a production decision pending clearance of mine permits to advancing the nearby Mesaba project to pre-feasibility studies and permitting. NewRange is committed to unlocking a new domestic supply chain of critical metals for the transition to a low-carbon economy and positioning Minnesota as a world leader in sustainable mineral resource development.

Responsibilities:
Leadership & Safety
- Be a courageous safety leader, leading by example and fostering a proactive safety and sustainability culture based on the common values on health, safety, environment, and communities shared by the asset owners (Teck and Glencore).
- Champion NewRange’s values in all community engagement efforts.
Financial Strategy & Planning
- Develop and implement the company’s financial strategy in alignment with project timelines and shareholder expectations.
- Lead financial forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow management to support project development.
- Provide financial insights to support decision-making and ensure efficient capital allocation.
Project Financing & Capital Management
- Monitor capital expenditure and ensure alignment with project milestones and budgets.
- Seek out opportunities for cost savings or optimizations that might arise between budget cycles.
- Manage the allocation and reporting of shareholder contributions for project funding.
- Develop financial models and economic assessments for each project to aid in decision-making.
Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Oversee the preparation of financial statements, management reports, and financial presentations.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations, tax requirements, and reporting standards (IFRS, GAAP, etc.).
- Liaise with auditors, regulatory bodies, and member company finance teams to ensure accurate reporting.
Compliance & Corporate Governance
- Ensure company-wide adherence to financial and operational compliance regulations.
- Implement policies and procedures to uphold corporate governance and ethical business practices.
- Oversee regulatory audits and ensure compliance with industry-specific legal requirements, including mining permits and environmental standards.
- Act as a liaison between the company and regulatory bodies, ensuring timely reporting and response to compliance matters.
Risk Management & Corporate Governance
- Identify financial risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Establish and enforce internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Support the board and executive team with financial insights and recommendations.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Provide financial and operational reports to the President & GM, Finance & Audit Committee, and the Board of Managers.
- Collaborate with internal teams, member companies, and external auditors to ensure smooth financial operations.
- Engage with suppliers, IT vendors, and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance and efficiency.
- Assist in financial decision-making to ensure alignment with shareholder objectives.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Supply Chain, Information Systems, or a related field; MBA or CPA/CFA preferred.
- 10 years of experience in finance, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the mining or natural resources sector.
- Experience managing finances for joint ventures or similar corporate structures.
- Strong understanding of mining project economics, cost controls, and financial modeling.
- Familiarity with enterprise IT systems, cybersecurity best practices, and digital transformation in financial management.
- Strong knowledge of corporate compliance, regulatory frameworks, and governance standards in mining.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent project and consulting team management skills with cross-functional project experience.
