The Times and The Sunday Times are looking for an audience editor to focus on growing and engaging our US audiences.
You will work with the US desk and various strands of the audience team to identify areas of high digital opportunity, and you will plan and execute to make the most of these.
You will collaborate on digital-first publishing plans that span seven days, ensuring our stories engage our existing subscriber base and find new audiences. You will closely analyse data and feed insights into commissioning editors and be a key ambassador for audience-led thinking.
You will be a core part of the US desk, but will be expected to share insights with the wider audience team on a regular basis. You will be hands-on in sharing SEO advice and posting on social, and you will also have the opportunity to benefit from a wealth of expertise in SEO, social, subscriber engagement, analytics and digital strategy within the audience team.
A strong knowledge of the US news market is desirable. Experience with subscription businesses is preferred but not required.
- The ability to retrieve and interpret data, then effectively communicate relevant insights.
- Experience in search engine optimisation and keyword research to derive new insights and recommendations.
- Excellent knowledge of social platforms and visual storytelling, combining both to reach new audiences.
- Experience writing and editing digital headlines, and flair for how to sell a Times story.
- Video editing experience preferred but not required.
- The ability to execute a large project, identifying audience needs and deciding the most relevant growth and engagement tactics to employ.
- You thrive on multi-disciplinary working and can work across different platforms efficiently.
- You like to use a combination of data and audience empathy to get to know your readers and meet their needs.
- You are an excellent communicator and comfortable with setting goals to meet targets across various departments and stakeholders.
- You are passionate and excited about the future of journalism and keeping up to date with the latest digital trends.
- You have a passion for US news and politics.
