News-Press NOW is looking for a rockstar Digital Content Editor with experience in community news content (written, digital and video) to join our team.
The Digital Content Editor is responsible for creating digital content that drives traffic to the News-Press NOW website and social media platforms, maintaining the News-Press NOW various social media presences, managing the News-Press NOW website and various apps and providing digital expertise and support to newsgathering operations.
The Digital Content Editor works closely with the News-Press NOW team of multimedia journalists, producers, technical directors and newsroom leaders in planning for and executing the News-Press NOW digital publishing strategy.
Responsibilities Include:
- Manage News-Press NOW website, news and weather apps, eEdition and social media platforms.
- Lead in getting breaking and developing news on digital platforms with little oversight.
- Work closely with the Assistant News Director to manage daily content.
- Recognize, execute live stream, and video opportunities.
- Coach and inspire a team of multimedia journalists in producing quality digital content.
- Work closely with multimedia journalists to ensure daily, digital deadlines are being met.
- Produce interactive content on News-Press NOW websites and social media channels.
- Develop creative approaches for presenting data-heavy stories in easy-to-understand formats.
- Responsible for leading digital training for all news staff.
- Track digital metrics in accordance with schedules established by the News Director.
- Work with the revenue team to execute digital platform revenue opportunities.
Requirements Include:
- BS/BA Degree preferably in Interactive Media, Digital Media, Journalism or Communications.
- 2 years' experience in Digital Content role, preferably in the news media industry.
- Demonstrated proficiencies in:Digital audience tools used in meeting audience needs and expectations.
- Content Management Systems such as Word Press, BLOX, etc.
- Managing websites and apps.
- AI tools.
- Managing multiple projects and/or deadlines.
- Sound news judgement and solid understanding of legal liabilities.
- A “big picture” thinker who considers opportunities to differentiate content between platforms.
- Strong “people skills”; ability to collaborate professionally with staff, viewers and officials.
- Excellent verbal, written and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated proficiencies in general productivity software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point)
- Previous management experience is highly desirable.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.

Location: News-Press NOW is located in historic St. Joseph, MO. The Digital Content Editor is an in-office role with a base schedule of Monday-Friday, 9A-6P, that may occasionally be adjusted due to newsroom needs.
