Job Summary:
The Medical Secretary plays a crucial role in providing administrative support to ensure efficient operation of the medical office. This position involves managing patient appointments and physician referrals, preparing and maintaining patient charts for providers, handling workers’ compensation appointments and approvals, and performing other clerical tasks to support medical staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments, follow-ups, and referrals. Accurately maintain patient appointment schedules using the Luma Health platform to ensure patients have confirmed and canceled upcoming appointments.
- Answer phone messages and assist with all patient requests
- Prep patient charts for provider the day before scheduled clinic.
- Review, Edit, and File Dictation.
- Provide assistance with office coverage where needed and perform other related duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in medical administration is a plus.
- Experience as a Medical Secretary or in a similar administrative role is preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, medical office procedures, and basic accounting principles is preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
