Overview:
NewSpring Capital is looking for a highly motivated Business Development Associate to support our thesis development and sourcing efforts in the Holdings Strategy. This role is critical in identifying, assessing, and engaging potential industry leaders and investment opportunities through strategic relationship building and industry research. The successful candidate will work closely with senior business development and investment professionals to expand our deal pipeline and generate proprietary deal flow.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Support the development of investment theses by conducting industry research and market mapping to identify emerging trends, potential investment opportunities, and key market players.
- Develop target lists and score prospects based on market research and analysis of third-party data sources.
- Originate and cultivate relationships with intermediaries, investment bankers, industry executives, portfolio company executives and other deal sources.
- Proactively reach out to prospective industry leaders and investment targets to initiate conversations with the purpose of exploring potential areas of collaboration and acquisition opportunities, respectively.
- Collaborate with investment teams to analyze inbound deal flow and qualify leads based on firm criteria.
- Track and manage deal origination activities using CRM tools and reporting dashboards.
- Assist in preparing marketing materials, presentations, and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Support the execution of business development strategies to enhance the firm's market presence and brand awareness.
- Work collaboratively with investment team members across the Holdings strategy, and executives at portfolio companies, to support and elevate their respective thesis development and business development activities.
- Actively network and immerse self in the entrepreneurial business community.
- Other ad-hoc projects as needed, including collaboration with other strategies across NewSpring Capital.
Qualifications:
- 1-3 years of experience in business development, private equity, investment banking, consulting, corporate development, or a related financial services role.
- Strong understanding of private equity investment principles, market dynamics, and deal structuring.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with key stakeholders and source new opportunities.
- Highly analytical mindset with the ability to leverage a data-driven approach to analyzing markets / targets, developing target lists and automating workflows using GenAI.
- Self-starter with the drive to work independently but also collaborate in a team-oriented environment.
- Frequent travel with industry-focused conferences integrated into targeted travel plans.
- Proficiency in CRM software, Microsoft Office Suite and GenAI.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Marketing, Communications or a related field.
- Connection to the greater Philadelphia area is strongly preferred.
