About our Counselors
NCE counselors are responsible for supervising and guiding children, ages 5-14, under the direction of
their class instructors or coaches with activities such as arts, crafts, sports, games, and STEM. They are
passionate about kids' experiences at camp; organized, flexible and able to problem-solve; calm under
pressure; effective communicators with adults, fellow counselors and campers; and have experience
working with children. Counselors are ultimately supervised by the Enrichment or Full Day Sports
Camp Director.

Qualifications & Requirements
? Experience working with children, preferably in a recreational setting
? Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
? Able to receive and implement feedback from NCE staff members
? Positive, collaborative, and flexible
? Ability to commit to full duration of work
? Consistent, reliable and punctual
? Able to maintain attention and a high level of energy or excitement for extended periods of time
? Clean CORI/SORI/fingerprint background check
Essential Job Duties
Campers and Program
? Available to participate in the mandatory NCE summer staff orientation on Saturday, June 21,
2025, and any other planning meetings leading up to camp
? Always ready create a fun, engaging and safe space for all campers
? Participate actively in activities of the specific camp (e.g. STEM, sports, visual arts)
? Arrive 15 minutes before the start of camp each day (8:15am) and stay, if needed, for 15
minutes after the day ends (3:45pm)
Safety and Procedures
? Be familiar with NCE Summer Camp handbook; ensure that camp regulations and NCE policies,
including protocols for check-in, drop-off, attendance, and lunch processes, are followed
? NCE is a phone free camp. Counselors must model adherence to cell phone rules at all times.
? Timely and appropriate communication of incidents and accidents
? Seek assistance of Summer Enrichment Director, Summer Program Coordinator and/or NCE
Central Staff as appropriate
? Oversee respectful use of facilities
Pay Rate:
$15-19/hour, based on experience and skill set
Typical daily camp hours: 8:15-3:45 pm. Counselors are paid based on attendance. If you are unable to
work, you will not be paid for the day. You will be paid for breaks and lunch.
? The final hourly rate will be communicated by the Summer Program Coordinator
