JURY CLERK ADMINISTRATOR (0124)

Purpose of Classification:
The purpose of this classification is to coordinate jury availability, selection and impaneling activities for an assigned
court and to perform administrative and clerical duties in support of department operations.
Essential Functions:
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude
them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties
may be required and assigned.
Monitors number of available jurors and coordinates with court schedules to ensure appropriate number of jurors to
call; prepares and mails juror summons; answers questions and provides information regarding deferral procedures,
medical excusals/exemptions, filling out nonresident forms, age exemptions, and other issues; and conducts research
on returned summonses and delinquent notices.
Coordinates juror activities: impanels jury; gathers and distributes juror information; instructs jurors regarding
courtroom schedules and set-up, court procedures and expectations, and the reason for summons; serves as juror
point of contact during service; distributes certificates of service; prepares and submits documentation regarding
and processes payments to jurors for their service.
Participates in other court room activities: pulls files to be taken to courtroom and checks for completeness; makes
files available to judge; assists with additional information as needed; files in proceedings; and makes copies.
Processes and enters related documentation into departmental systems: receives and reviews case and juror
information; verifies accuracy and completeness of information; and prepares, edits, and submits documentation
and case files, jury lists, unclaimed funds, backup reports, reconciliations, civil dockets, juror non-reporters and
non-citizens, etc.
Performs Deputy Clerk duties: receives Grand Jury Indictments; prepares attorney oaths and certificates; records
Notary applications, Sheriff’s department oaths, attorney oaths and orders, special orders, and various other
documents; retains jury and notary documents in accordance with established laws and guidelines; and checks fifas
for accuracy.

Processes accounts payable and accounts receivable documentation: processes checks; reconciles jury accounts;
requisitions funds; and maintains accounts payable and accounts receivable documentation.
Performs related duties: greets callers and visitors; provides information and answers questions; orders supplies;
prepares letters; processes real estate returns; and maintains department files.
Processes a variety of documentation associated with department/division operations, within designated
timeframes and per established procedures: prepares, completes, receives, reviews, processes, forwards or retains,
as appropriate, various forms, reports, correspondence, invoices, jury lists, unclaimed funds, backup reports, account
reconciliations, various jury reports, and other documentation; compiles data for further processing or for use in
preparation of department reports; and maintains computerized and/or hardcopy records.
Operates a personal computer to enter, retrieve, review or modify data, utilizing word processing, spreadsheet,
database, Internet, e-mail, or other software; and operates general office or other equipment as necessary to
complete essential functions.
Communicates with Court officials, supervisor, other County employees, the public, and other individuals as needed
to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems.
Additional Functions:
Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; supplemented by three years of experience in court operations and services;
or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills,
and abilities for this job.
Specific License or Certification Required: None.
Specific Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities: Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in performance of the essential
functions and learn, comprehend, and apply all County or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary
to function effectively in the position.

Physical Ability: Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve

extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.
Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds,
and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Environmental Factors: Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental
conditions.
