Position Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Director of Technology & Media Services, this positions maintains the school district's computer and network equipment in operating condition, meeting the technology needs of the district, troubleshooting and repairing computer hardware and software, and resolving immediate computer operational problems.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree desired, preferably in Computer Science, Instructional Technology, or Computer Information Systems. Applicable two-year community college or technical college may be considered.
- Significant successful related experience in computer and network installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
- Certification/Licensure: CompTIA A and/or Network Certification
- Proficient in current operating systems and office suites (i.e. Windows 10, Mac OS, G-Suite Administration, Microsoft Office, etc.)
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Possess personal characteristics and professional competencies to work successfully with administrators, teachers, staff, students, and Director of Technology
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Must have good time management skills and be able to successfully manage multiple tasks, projects, and responsibilities
- Has expertise and working knowledge of computing hardware (installation and troubleshooting), software, mobile and interactive devices
- Has knowledge applicable to educational software troubleshooting
- Has strong knowledge of Active Directory and other management tools
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Network Administration:
- Supports and manages Active Directory accounts and other database management
- Provides support with Network Management tools
- Assists with general maintenance of network infrastructure in school(s) to keep network running smoothly
- Serves as a resource to the operation of and application for: Wide-Area Network, Local Area Networks, Cloud-based services, PCs, integrated learning systems, multimedia, distance learning opportunities, and video networks
- Serves on the system technology committee to assist in developing short and long-term technology plans
- Develop and maintain imaging solutions involving creation of custom images for PCs, laptops, and other devices
- Monitors disk space and server back-ups for client PCs and Imaging servers
Software Administration:
- Ensures school level conformance to the district’s software standards
- Keeps current on new products available and developments in the field of instructional technology
- Installs District approved software where needed
Hardware Administration:
- Provides maintenance and support for all the technology installed in a school including PCs, printers, mobile devices, interactive whiteboards, projectors, audio systems, cameras, and any other technology devices as needed
- Diagnoses, and repairs projectors, video and audio systems, and interactive whiteboards/projectors/panels
Security and Quality Control:
- Ensure that all systems, procedures, and work practices follow established standards of security and quality control
- Develop procedures and documentation to aid in providing a secure and highly functioning environment for both staff and students
Communication:
- Communicate and maintain technology workorder progress with associates via online workorder system and/or email
- Effectively communicates District and school-level technology initiatives using a variety of media to school administration, school staff, IT personnel and external vendors
- Coordinates technology implementation with School Technology Assistant and Technology Support Team
- Collaborates with all other Technology Specialists, Network Administrators, and Network Engineers
Inventory Management:
- Supervises on-site deliveries by third party vendors
- Coordinates and maintains inventory, and performs on-going record keeping functions of hardware locations, assignments, quantities, types and required repairs
- Ensure the Districts assets are secured, documented and maintained through the use of
