QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High school graduate
2. Successful management and supervisory experience in maintenance and custodial areas
3. Demonstrated knowledge in basic technological areas such as heating, air conditioning, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry.
4. Demonstrated aptitude or competence for all assigned responsibilities
5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board of education may find appropriate and acceptable
REPORTS TO: SUPERINTENDENT
SUPERVISES: All custodial and maintenance personnel
JOB GOAL: To maintain the physical school facilities and accompanying grounds in a condition of excellence, safety, cleanliness and aesthetic attractiveness, so that full educational use of the facilities may be made at all times
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Examines all school buildings and grounds on a regular basis for needed repairs and maintenance.
Establishes and recommends priorities on repair projects.
Performs the duties of Asbestos Program Coordinator.
Serves as the District Safety Coordinator.
Assigns and supervises personnel for maintenance work such as replacing worn or defective wiring, switches, faucets, and plumbing fixtures and repair of any maintenance related materials and equipment.
Develops a system for dealing with emergency repair problems with efficiency.
Orders materials as needed and makes recommendations for purchase of supplies and equipment.
Consults with building principals regarding the establishment of regular preventive maintenance programs.
Recruits, trains, and supervises all maintenance and custodial personnel and makes recommendations for their employment, transfer, promotion and release.
Writes bid specifications and provides advice on the hiring of contractors to perform certain maintenance or repair services.
Establishes and administers schedules and procedures for the regular custodial care of all district school and office facilities.
Establishes and supervises summer work crews.
Maintains an accurate account of all industrial supplies and an updated inventory of maintenance and custodial equipment.
Coordinates vacation schedules for all department personnel.
Performs other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve-month position. Salary to be established by the board of education.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the board’s policy on evaluation of support services personnel.
