GENERAL DESCRIPTION (1-3 LINES DESCRIBING ROLE) :
The Music Teacher is responsible for planning, organizing, developing and conducting a comprehensive music instructional program for high school students in grades 9-12. Newton South High School is seeking a Part time 35% Music Teacher for our Jazz Combo and Honors Music Theory course. The Jazz Combo meets before and / or after school. Honors Music Theory is offered during the school day.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :
- Bachelor's Degree
- MA DESE Music Licensure required
- Ability to handle a multitude of varying and complex issues
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to use technology effectively

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES (NOT LIMITED TO) :
Work Environment :
Work is generally performed in a school environment during the school day; however, there may be occasions for afterschool meetings (e.g., music concerts or back-to-school nights). Regular attendance is a necessary function. Rarely absent or late unless the situation is of an emergency nature.
Physical Requirements :
While performing the duties of this job, the teacher is frequently required to walk, stand, sit, talk, and hear. The teacher must regularly bend, stoop, crouch, and / or kneel. The teacher is occasionally required to lift and / or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Must have sufficient mobility to navigate within a large school building.
