TITLE: Band & Music Technology Teacher
LOCATION: Newtown Middle School
START DATE: August 2025
SALARY: Per Teachers Contract
RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide instructional music programing for 7th and 8th grade Band,
Music Lab, & WIN (What I Need) students and integrate music into the
total school effort. Facilitate after school programs such as but not
limited to Jazz Band & Honors Band. Perform other classroom
teaching and duty assignments consistent with the requirements of the
position and BOE-NFT contractual agreements.
Must hold Connecticut Certification #049, Pre K-12
- Superior instructional skills in wind, brass, percussion instruments & music
- Have a working knowledge of current trends in middle school music education.
- Ability and desire to work with classroom teachers in developing integrated
- Evidence of thorough understanding of unique needs of early adolescents and how
- Strong technology skills and ability to incorporate into the music program.
- The ability to develop a model music program.
- Strong organization and communication skills.
