POSITION: Social Studies Teacher, Grade 8 (Long Term Substitute)
SCHOOL: Newtown Middle School
STARTING DATE: End of February 2025
REMUNERATION: $125 per day for the first 30 days, $269.61 for the remainder of the assignment
RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide social studies instruction to 8th grade students as a member of a five
person team and will perform other classroom teaching duty assignments
consistent with the requirements of the position.
QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal candidate will have
- Currents Social Studies Connecticut Certification
- Interest in working in a high-performing district in a middle school
- Ability to work with others in attaining team objectives and accomplishing
- Evidence of thorough understanding of unique needs of adolescents and
- Evidence of expertise in working with children in a heterogeneous
- Familiarity of and/or experience in teaching language arts and
- Familiarity and/or experience in utilizing small group instruction to support
- Effective classroom management skills that promote a positive learning
- Willingness to participate in collaborative lesson planning;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; and
