Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- Valid CT teaching certificate for this position (Elementary: 013, 005, or 305)
- Completed coursework and certification in STEM (preferred)
- Specialized training in teaching science, mathematics and/or STEM (preferred)
- Experience teaching science, mathematics, and/or STEM (preferred)
- Excellent communication and technology skills
- Strong knowledge of both the CCSS and NGSS
- Offer professional development to building colleagues
- Interest in working in a high-performing district in an intermediate school environment
- Strong understanding of effective teaching strategies that will support this assignment
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners
- Effective classroom management skills that promote a positive learning environment
- Commitment to promoting a positive culture
Responsibilities:
Reed’s STEM Teacher will be responsible for working with all fifth and sixth-grade students.
The STEM Teacher will be responsible for creating lessons that are engaging, purposeful,
and integrate the teaching and application of both CCSS and NGSS Standards within fifth
and sixth-grade instructional lessons. The STEM Teacher will also be responsible for
collaborating with colleagues, sharing professional development with staff, attending
professional development and continued training related to STEM programming and
methodologies, and preparing an annual budget to support STEM instruction.
