The Department of Pharmacy is an integrated department with a centralized structure that provides service to all centers of NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital (NYP). The scope of services span numerous dimensions including clinical, policy/guideline development, distributive, quality, financial, information technology, education, and research.
Buyer
Manage and coordinates all the purchasing of goods and services via active engagement of purchasing transactions within the Materials Management Information System (MMIS) and with our supplier organizations. Key point of contact with the hospital departments concerning their orders. Responsible for the timely placement of purchase orders based on electronic (EDI and other) and manual (fax, paper) requisitions from end- user departments, capital improvement groups, PAR and general stores locations. Maintains visibility for all assigned commodities to ensure that supplies are available when needed. Assist as needed other strategic sourcing staff in contract related issues and pricing concerns. Resolves issues around payments, non-receipts, damages/returns and priority orders, as required.
This position is day shift working 8:30am-5:00pm.
Preferred Criteria
- CPM and/or APEX credentialing
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
- Good knowledge of MS Office Suite, especially Excel, to pull and arrange data and other information needed for analysis
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) with the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
- New York State Pharmacy Technician License
Required Criteria
- High School Degree
- A minimum of 3-5 years of work experience in purchasing or equivalent business environment
- Strong working knowledge of Lawson or similar integrated ERP procurement systems
