Licensed Refrigeration Engineer - Day Weekends ( Vacation / Sick Relief
The Licensed Refrigeration Engineer operates, maintains and repairs the hospital’s refrigeration, chiller systems and cooling towers ensuring that equipment is in good operating condition. Assembles structural and functional components, such as motors, controls, switches, gauges, valves, pumps, compressors, and condensers. Pumps the specified refrigerant fluid into chiller systems. Starts systems, observes the operation, reads gauges and instruments and adjusts mechanisms on valves, controls, and pumps to control the level of fluid, pressure and temperature in the system; maintains log of all readings. Dismantles minor malfunctioning systems and tests components, using mechanical and pneumatic testing equipment. Replaces and/or adjusts defective or worn parts to repair systems. Assists Stationary Watch Engineer in performing minor repairs to power plant equipment.
This is a full time position, Day Shift will be the base shift, Sunday through Thursday, 7:00 am to 3:00pm, when not providing vacation or sick relief.
This role is located at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center.
Required Criteria
- High School Diploma or GED
- Three to Five years’ experience in related field
- Must be available for weekends, evenings, nights, holidays, emergencies and scheduled work/outages
- New York City FDNY issued Refrigeration license
- FDNY G-91 Supervision of Natural Gas Co-generation System within 6 months of hire
- FDNY A-35 Air Compressors within 6 months of hire
- FDNY P-98 Fuel Oil Piping and Bulk Storage within 6 months of hire

- FDNY G-29 Compressed Flammable Gases
- FDNY C-99 Compressed Natural Gas
- FDNY F-60 Fire guard for Torch Operations
- FDNY G-60 Torch Use of Flammable Gas
