Job Description:
The Network Systems Administrator is responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining an organization's local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), data communications network, operating systems, and physical and virtual servers. This role involves performing system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of hardware, network, and server resources, and reviewing system and application logs. The administrator will analyze network and server resource consumption, control user access, install and upgrade software, and maintain software licenses. Additionally, the role includes configuring and updating Windows and Linux-based servers, implementing security measures, performing regular system updates and backups, and troubleshooting network problems. The administrator will also document processes and procedures, manage user accounts, and collaborate with IT teams to design and implement new solutions.Position Responsibilities:
- Assist in network modeling, analysis, planning, and coordination between network and data communications hardware and software.
- Possess expertise in the engineering and administration of virtual platforms such as VMware/ESXi, Hyper-V, and/or Oracle, along with experience in data center administration.
- Configure, install, and maintain multifunction devices.
- Monitor ticketing system to resolve trouble tickets.
- Utilize tools such as Active Directory, MECM, Software Center, Group Policy, DNS, SQL, and others to administer over a large computer network.
- Additional responsibilities may include scripting and automation of tasks, monitoring network performance, supporting end-users, managing user accounts, and collaborating with IT teams to design and implement new solutions.
- Familiarity with IT engineering practices and a proactive approach to problem-solving are essential.
- Project Specific Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the acquisition, installation, maintenance, and usage of the organization's local area network.
- Manage network performance and maintain network security.
- Ensure that security procedures are implemented and enforced.
- Install all network software.
- Evaluate, develop, and maintain telecommunications systems.
- Troubleshoot network problems.
- Establish and implement network policies, procedures, and standards and ensure their conformance with information systems and organization objectives.
- Train users on network operation.
- Frequently report to Senior Network Engineer.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree 5-years of Network Administration experience.
- Associate’s degree and at least 7-yrs experience in lieu of Bachelor’s degree.
- Active DoD Secret (or above) Security Clearance.
- 5-yrs of experience working with Windows Server, MS Office, Symantec Endpoint, and third-party tools.
- Demonstrated experience configuring, installing and updating Linux based servers.
- Strong understanding of networking, security policies, and access control management.
- Proficiency in Windows Server administration and enterprise email system management.
- Ability to monitor and analyze system performance and recommend optimizations.
- Experience supporting Information Assurance (IA) security procedures (e.g., scanning and mitigation).
- Expertise in backup and disaster recovery planning.
- CompTIA Security Certification.
