Nexpera, a leading company in the field of sulfuric acid and potassium hydroxide regeneration, is seeking a highly skilled Chemical Operator to join our team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring and operating equipment and facilities, ensuring quality and conformance with standard operating procedures. This includes maintaining safety standards, initiating and following emergency procedures when necessary, and performing basic maintenance repair and upkeep on area equipment.
The site operates a process safety management-covered process that produces sulfuric acid in multiple concentrations. Product is shipped in rail cars, tank trucks and portable totes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Start up and shut down (normal and emergency) plant systems and components
- Operate, monitor and control plant systems; visually inspect, monitor equipment and process conditions
- Prepare equipment for maintenance work by isolating, clearing and locking out
- Review, follow and revise detailed process operating procedures, maintenance procedures and safety procedures
- Troubleshoot equipment to restore to normal operation
- Analyze charts and logs to identify potential or actual problems
- Identify system problems to stabilize plant to normal conditions
The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma/GED equivalent, minimum 2 years' experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment, and ability to navigate Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite. Additionally, they must be willing and able to work 12-hour rotating shifts, including overtime, nights, weekends, holidays and short notice call-in if required.
