This position will require the ability to work independently and multi-task. Monitor phones, scanners, emails, websites, and sister stations for story ideas and to assign crews and make beat calls. Producers in our newsroom are working journalists.

The News Producer must be able to sit, reach, conduct telephone, video conferencing, and face-to-face conversations with individuals or groups. Use electronic mail, write news copy, clearly communicate to co-workers and viewers, make decisions without supervision, make decisions that impact the results of co-workers.
Lifting equipment weighing up to 25 lbs.

- Responsible for evaluating stories; organizing them into a cohesive sequence within a newscast or digital content for the web.
- Write, edit, and order news stories
- Write, produce, and edit material that appeals to target audiences.
- Research topics using the internet, video archives, and other information sources.
- Communicate with managers and teams in the field daily
- Pitch story ideas in editorial meetings
- Must be able to interact well with video journalists, anchors, videographers, news managers, production and engineering staff.
- Detail oriented; proficient in non-linear editing.
- Excellent verbal, written, grammar and analytical skills.
- Strong news judgment, journalistic integrity and understanding of viewer needs and expectations.
- Knowledge of media production, communication and dissemination techniques and methods, including alternative ways to inform and entertain via written, oral, and visual media.
- Ability to meet quality standards for service & evaluate customer satisfaction.
- Proficient in video editing.
