What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Specialist position at Next Chapter Living Center I & II?
Next Chapter Living Center I & II are group homes for teen boys ages 12 years old to 17 years old in the city of Milwaukee. Some of the job duties include monitoring and interacting with youth during daily activities. Youth Specialist assist with homework, preparing meals, cleaning, taking youth on outings, completing daily logs and other documentation, and transporting youth to appointments. Next Chapter Living Center is looking for experienced applicants that have worked in a residential facility with teens or who have experience working with at-risk youth. Applicants with no experience must complete an 80 hour training on site. Next Chapter will train applicants with no experience.
Job Type: Part-time
- Actively supervise and interact with residents in daily activities according to structured daily calendar. Facilitate activities as needed
- Intervene with residents in milieu as needed, to encourage healthy, adaptive behavior. Let residents know what's expected of them. Set and enforce penalties for unruly behavior
- Instruct residents on daily living skills including chores and personnel hygiene. Act as a positive role model at all times
- Ensure basic needs of residents are being met daily, physically and emotionally
- Function as a team member. Support and be accountable to all staff. Communicate and coordinate with all appropriate staff during shift changes. Assist with training new staff
- Provide input on Next Chapter procedures and all resident issue, including intervention strategies to be used, admission and discharges
- Complete required documentation
- Conduct bed checks, reports AWOL residents
- Participate in-group work as needed
- Transport resident as needed
- Administer medication and complete required documentation
- Provide academic assistance to residents as needed
- Assist group home manager in the upkeep and cleanliness of the facility
- Intervene in crisis, utilizing approved crisis intervention strategies
- Pursue professional growth by making use of supervision and other professional development opportunities for the further enhancement of Next Chapter Living Center. Currently Looking for 2nd shift (3pm- 12am & 4pm-12am) and 3rd shift (12am-8am) primarily
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 24 – 32 per week
