We are seeking a meticulous and experienced Test Analyst to join our testing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, executing and validating SQL data scenarios and tests, ensuring our databases run efficiently and securely. About the CIS Project The CIS is the core system for all processes within the utility. It supports business functions such as premise creation, contract management, customer communication, meter reading, meter data management, billing, invoicing, 3rd party distribution channels, customer service, and integration to customer relationship management.
Management Responsibility: None Major Responsibilities:
Design and develop SQL scripts and procedures for testing database functionality.
Review database designs and ensure they meet organizational standards for performance, security and maintainability.
Test database functions, triggers, views and stored procedures to ensure they produce the desired results.
Analyze, test and validate data for accuracy and integrity.
Identify, reproduce and report defects in databases and associated applications.
Work closely with developers and data modelers on database design and improvements.
Validate database migrations and ETL processes.
Monitor database performance metrics and recommend enhancements.
Develop test plans and documentation around SQL testing efforts.
Collaborate with other QA professionals in designing broader testing strategies that incorporate database testing.
Stay up to date with the latest SQL developments and best practices to ensure tests are relevant and effective.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor s degree in computer science, information systems or a related field.
6 of proven experience as a SQL Tester or similar role.
In depth understanding of database structures, principles and best practices.
Familiarity with various SQL-based databases systems like SQL Server, Oracle, Toad, etc.
Experience with data modeling tools, SQL development tools and performance monitoring tools.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
Knowledge of ETL processes and associated testing strategies is a plus.
Other Preferred Experience:
Exposure to a range of enterprise business applications such as CRM, ERP (Oracle), WAM (Maximo/Clevest), CIS (SAP), Billing Applications as well as working with both cloud and on[1]prem solutions, including legacy.
Experience working with distributed external resources and vendor teams (onshore and offshore)
Experience with at least one of the following tools JIRA, SharePoint, QMetry, test suites such as HP Quality Center, Zephyr
Experience with at least one or more programming or scripting languages (e.g., Java, JavaScript, Unix, XML)
Experience with configuration management / build management procedures
Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical personnel at all levels.
Strong attention to detail and deadlines
Preferred, but not required, knowledge and understanding of the utility industry.
Ability to work well under pressure and work on multiple projects concurrently.
Ability to work well with global team members/suppliers.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
