Summary
Teach courses pertaining to science, social studies, pre-engineering, mathematics, coding and to the application of original and standardized scientific techniques in solving specific problems and situations using an APB approach. Responsible for 1 mixed age group classroom of students ages 7-15.
Duties
- Evaluate and grade students' class work, assignments, and papers.
- Compile, administer, and grade examinations, or assign this work to others.
- Prepare and deliver lectures to students on topics such as algebra, geometry, coding, pre-engineering skills, (STEM) history / social studies.
- Prepare course materials, such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts.
- Maintain student attendance records, grades, and other required records.
- Maintain regularly scheduled office hours to advise and assist students, parents, and coworkers.
- Plan, evaluate, and revise curricula, course content, and course materials and methods of instruction.
- Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom discussions.
- Select and recommend materials and supplies, such as supporting literature for STEM topics.
- Make classroom connections between academic and vocational curricula and on career issues.
- Collaborate with colleagues to address teaching and research issues.
- Serve on academic or administrative committees that deal with institutional policies, departmental matters, and academic issues.
- Participate in student recruitment, registration, and placement activities.
- Participate in campus and community events.
- Keep abreast of developments and technological advances in the STEM and educational fields by reading current literature, talking with colleagues, and participating in professional conferences.
