Electrical Maintenance Job Summary ? (Level 1)
Job Objective
Performs various skilled work : installing, operating, troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing three-phase and other industrial, robotic, electrical equipment and systems. Performs related duties as required.
o Performs skilled tasks related to repair, installation, maintenance, and testing / troubleshooting of electrical systems and equipment.
- Reads and correctly interprets diagrams, blueprints, and equipment specifications.
Uses electrical testing equipment to assist with determining proper course of action.
Maintains, repairs, and replaces parts as needed.
Maintains logs of all repair and maintenance activities.
May assist with removal of mechanical equipment and alignment of pumps and motors.
Maintains accurate records as required.
o May coordinate work of employees / contractors.
Observes work performed by apprentices and helpers to ensure work is done properly.
Inspects completed jobs for quality assurance.
Obtains permits for electrical repairs from Codes Administration.
Prepares necessary material lists in order to perform electrical installation and maintenance.
May resolve and / or troubleshoot complex problems pertaining to equipment usage.
o Ensures safety of self, other employees, and property.
Utilizes proper safety equipment.
Maintains personal tools and equipment to established safety standards.
Observes all safety procedures used by subordinate employees and makes corrections as needed.
Reports any potential hazards to superiors immediately.
May train employees.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work involves various risks or discomforts which require special safety precautions. Working around moving parts, carts, or machines, etc. Employees may be required to use protective clothing or gear such as masks, goggles, gloves, or shields.
Work requires some physical exertion such as walking, climbing, bending, stooping, stretching, or similar activities.
Employment Standards
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or equivalent and three (3) years? experience maintaining and repairing industrial electrical equipment and systems.
Associate's Degree in Electrical Technology from an accredited college or university and one (1) year experience maintaining and repairing industrial electrical equipment and systems.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
Knowledge of three-phase electricity, motors, and motor controls.
Knowledge of hazards associated with working with electricity and high voltage electrical equipment.
Knowledge of safety rules and precautions.
Working knowledge of the Electrical Code and the National Safety Code as they apply to work being performed.
Skill using electrical equipment and tools.
Ability to carry out oral and written instructions.
Ability to trouble-shoot intricate electrical equipment, boxes, and lines.
Ability to interpret complex blueprints and written diagrams.
Ability to comprehend technical manuals.
Ability to cooperate with others.
Ability to take responsibility for the safety of other employees, the public and property.
Ability to work on equipment and lines up to 4160 volts with assistance.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
May require ability to lead and / or train work of other employees.
