Mechanical Maintenance Technician Level 1
Job Objective : Candidate with strong background in mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair, with a proven ability to work independently and as part of a team. Performs related duties as required.
Job Description
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
o Performs skilled tasks related to the repair, installation, and maintenance of mechanical systems and equipment.
Inspect and maintain equipment to ensure safety and operational efficiency.
Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, and electrical systems
Perform preventative maintenance on a variety of machinery and equipment.
Coordinates maintenance and repair activities with Shift Managers.
Diagnose and repair mechanical issues, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems.
Troubleshoot and resolve breakdowns in a timely and efficient manner
Maintains accurate records of maintenance activities and repairs
Inspects new installations to ensure compliance with department specifications.
Monitors safety precautions taken by employees or contractors in all work activities.
Assists with research and development testing as required.
May diagnose problems for other crafts and direct appropriate actions needed.
May operate, tow, or transport equipment or commercial motor vehicles.
o Ensures safety of self, other employees, and property.
Utilizes proper safety equipment.
Maintains tools and equipment to established safety standards.
Observes all safety procedures used by subordinate employees and make corrections as needed.
Reports any potential hazards to superiors immediately.
o Assists with keeping records on the cost of materials, equipment, and labor of project activities.
o Orders parts and equipment as directed.
o Participates on safety or other committees as required.
o Consults with and coordinate contractors / vendors / manufacturers for procurement and occasional maintenance / repair of special systems and equipment.
o May assist in training new employees.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS
May be required to use protective clothing or gear such as masks, coats, goggles, gloves, or shields.
This classification requires some physical exertion such as walking, climbing, bending, stooping, stretching, or similar activities.
Employment Standards
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma (with vocational training or technical certifications preferred) and five (1-3) years of experience maintaining and repairing mechanical equipment.

o Thorough knowledge of all related safety rules and regulations pertaining to the use of tools, equipment, and vehicles.

o Skill in reading sketches and blueprints.
o Ability to receive, transmit, carry out, or oversee the carrying out of oral and written instructions.
o Ability to plan details of work.
o Ability to use judgment and take initiative.
o Ability to prepare reports and keep necessary records.
o May require ability to lead and / or train the work of other employees.
o Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
