A government agency is seeking an experienced Accountant to support the Employee Benefits Office in reconciling insurance carrier discrepancies that date back to 2021. This role involves financial reconciliation, compliance, and auditing, working with multiple systems to research and resolve discrepancies while recommending process improvements.

• Research past payroll transactions, carrier payments, and invoices to determine amounts owed or needing a refund.
• Process payroll transactions or provide recommendations for adjustments.
• Set up self-pay and collection accounts as needed.
• Coordinate with Employee Benefits Office, Department of Finance, and payroll staff.
• Lead and participate in reconciliation meetings with carriers, communicating research findings.
• Draft procedures for ongoing reconciliations and recommend process improvements.
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations and mitigate issues discovered through reconciliation.

• Bachelors degree in Accounting or Business Administration with an Accountancy concentration.
  • A valid CPA license from the California Board of Accountancy may substitute for the degree requirement.
• 2 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on auditing and reconciliation.
• Experience working with:
  • COMPASS (SAP-powered HRIS system)
  • Benefit Bridge (online benefits enrollment system)
  • Microsoft Excel for data analysis and financial reporting
• Strong attention to detail, with the ability to verify data accuracy and cross-check records.
• Excellent communication skills to lead meetings and collaborate with different teams.
