Job Title : Survey CAD Technician
Location : Grand Rapids, MI (Hybrid)
Overview :
We are seeking a detail-oriented Survey CAD Technician to join a dynamic team in the civil engineering and surveying industry. The ideal candidate will have experience in drafting and design using AutoCAD Civil 3D , MicroStation , or similar software, with a strong ability to produce accurate and comprehensive construction plans and surveys.
Key Responsibilities :
- Perform basic mathematical calculations, including pipe slopes, areas, and volumes.
- Create and detail construction plans by processing raw data from designers.
- Adhere to CAD standards, conventions, and guidelines to ensure consistency in work products.
- Review and verify plans for accuracy and completeness.
- Generate and process existing and proposed profiles, site plans, and utility layouts with minimal supervision.
- Import survey data into Civil 3D and produce boundary, topographical, ALTA, and as-built surveys.
- Plot legal descriptions for parcels, easements, and rights-of-way.
- Generate stake-out coordinates and plot information for field crews.
- Utilize station-offset methods for setting points.
- Estimate man-hours required for CAD project completion.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to ensure project goals are met.
Qualifications :
Minimum of 1 year of full-time professional CAD experience in a related field.
High school diploma required; an associate degree in a related field is preferred.
Strong understanding of the metric system and ability to convert between metric and English measurements.
Work Environment and Physical Demands :
CAD tasks are primarily performed in an office setting with a moderate noise level.
Frequent sitting and use of hands to operate tools and controls.
