TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for providing medical input into the overall program, treatment services, and patient care. Contribute to the planning and development of the treatment plans for the patients. Ensure the treatment center meets all accreditation standards related to medical, health, and safety issues.
- Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations and assessments for patients with behavioral health and substance use disorders, including taking medical histories and performing physical examinations.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including setting goals, selecting appropriate interventions, and medication management for mental health conditions.
- Do physicals on patients, prescribe and manage medications, including Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) for opioid use disorder (e.g., Suboxone, Narcan, Vivitrol), and monitor patient responses, adjusting treatment as necessary.
Work collaboratively with the Medical Director, Clinical Team, and therapists to ensure comprehensive care. Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with clinic policies, legal requirements, and best practices, ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards.
- Regularly evaluate and document patient progress throughout their stay, determining appropriate level of care step down timing, and adjusting treatment plans as needed.
- Educate patients and their families about addiction, recovery processes, medication use, potential side effects, adherence, and strategies for coping and relapse prevention.
- Advocate for patients’ needs within the healthcare system and connect them with community resources, support groups, and aftercare services.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) with a focus on psychiatric-mental health.
- National certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) preferred.
- Current and valid Nurse Practitioner (NP) license issued by the Ohio Board of Nursing.
- Active and unrestricted APRN license in Ohio.
- DEA registration, including waiver for prescribing Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT).
- Certificate to Prescribe (CTP) in Ohio.
- Prior experience in psychiatric nursing, with a focus on addiction treatment and behavioral health preferred.
- Experience in outpatient settings is advantageous.
- Proven experience in providing psychiatric care to patients across the lifespan.
- Proficient in conducting psychiatric evaluations, developing treatment plans, and managing medications, including MAT for substance use disorders.
- Familiarity with federal and state regulations governing addiction treatment, including knowledge of MAT protocols.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff.
- Standard of Care Agreement (SCA) with a collaborating psychiatrist preferred.
- Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems and other healthcare technologies for documentation and patient management.
