Position Description : The Licensed Vocational Nurse provides basic medical care to patients under the supervision of RNs / Physicians. The LVN Nurse advocates for patient safety and protocol integrity, adheres to nursing standards, and communicates effectively to ensure effective conduct of clinical trials and quality patient care.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : Current BLS / ACLS. ACLS preferredCurrent Texas Licensed Vocational NurseIV and venous access device management skillsESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include but are not limited to the following : Obtains, monitors, and documents vital signs to include pulse, blood pressure, temperature, respiratory rate, height, and weightConfirms and documents fasting statusObtains and documents pain scale and fatigue scaleAccesses, flushes, and deaccesses central venous access devices using aseptic techniqueObtains peripheral venous access using aseptic techniqueObtains clinical labs and study specific specimens according to the patients schedule and protocol guidelines.Obtains good quality ECGs according to the patients schedule and protocol guidelinesCollects and reviews medication lists and diaries as appropriateAssists RNs / Physicians with procedures or examinationsPrepares laboratory requisitions and suppliesMaintains cleanliness of draw stations are work areasInventories and requests supplies as necessary
