Job purpose
The Microbiology Technician provides assistance in the laboratory to maintain efficient workflow of microbial testing.
Duties and responsibilities
The primary responsibilities of this position at Next Science will be the following:
o Routine laboratory maintenance and duties, including but not limited to:
o Propagation of bacterial cultures
o Preparation of buffer solutions, media, and broths
o Labeling plates and tubes
o Assist with research and stability testing
o Re-stocking supplies and inventory maintenance
o Maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment; autoclaves, incubators, etc.
Qualifications
Experience and Knowledge:
· B.S. in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biotechnology
or other related biological discipline.
· 1 year post bachelor’s full time laboratory experience in R&D preferred
· Lab safety, general good laboratory practices and good documentation practices
Skills and Abilities:
·· Detail oriented and highly organized
· Proficient in Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets
· Basic use of other Microsoft office suite applications
· Effective written and verbal communication
· Ability to work both collaboratively and independently
· Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
The work environment and the physical requirements are:
· Most of the time is spent in the laboratory, in regulated temperature
· Exposure to chemicals and hazardous materials
· Must be able to lift objects up to 20 lbs.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
