Crisis Counselors provide immediate, short-term emotional support and crisis intervention services to individuals and communities impacted by Hurricane Helene. This role focuses on mental health support, resource connection, and community outreach to promote emotional resilience and recovery. Crisis Counselors will be hired to serve one of the following counties: Fulton, Newton and Butts.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct individual and group crisis counseling sessions to support those experiencing emotional distress due to the disaster.
Provide emotional support and coping strategies tailored to individuals, families, and communities affected by trauma.
Facilitate referrals to mental health services, social support programs, and other community resources as needed.
Engage in proactive community outreach to raise awareness about available mental health services and disaster recovery resources.
Assist in developing and distributing educational materials on mental health, coping mechanisms, and disaster-related emotional responses.
Document counseling sessions and maintain client records in accordance with program standards, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Collaborate with local agencies, first responders, and community organizations to enhance coordinated disaster response efforts.
Qualifications & Skills:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to provide compassionate support in high-stress situations.
Experience in community outreach, group facilitation, or psychoeducation (preferred).
Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and disaster response principles.
Ability to work independently and as part of a mobile response team in the field.
Some education in Child Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week

- Every weekend
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
