Principal Engineer - Transmission Line Design Position Overview
This position is a critical component of the NextEra Energy Transmission Development Group, working closely with the Early Stage Project Manager to define and influence project requirements and scope.
The successful candidate will manage EORs, support narrative and commercial strategy with Early Stage PM's, NEET Development, and other stakeholders, demonstrating expertise in ISO requirements, emerging issues like wildfire mitigation strategies, and competitive windows.
A seasoned professional with a strong background in HV or EHV transmission line design and construction, as well as commercial and contract negotiation experience, is essential for this role.
- FERC Order 1000 / Competitive RFP experience
- HVDC transmission line design experience
- 500-765kV transmission line design experience
- Commercial / Contract negotiation
- Understanding ISO requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Provides engineering, design and environmental support
- Tracks and reports on project negotiations and performance
- Delivers company standards, policies, training, and support of organization
- Prepares communications, presentations and provides support at meetings
- Formulates researches, and develops improvement measures
- Works with other departments within the organization to establish customer requirements and project costs
- Ability to meet attendance and storm duty requirements
- Ability to work extended hours
Requirements
- Valid Driver's License (NON CDL)
- Bachelor's - Engineering
- Experience: 7 years
