Position Specific Description
The Data Center team at NextEra is building the next generation of projects to meet the unique power access and energy supply requirements of Data Center customers. We are seeking a Senior Project Manager with a passion for structuring, development, and deal execution, who can support a burgeoning portfolio of customers that are looking to interconnect large loads near / next to renewable projects to cut costs, reduce risk, cut carbon, and achieve timely interconnection in markets that are short on capacity. The successful candidate will work closely with the Origination, Development, and Business Management teams, leveraging utility-scale energy market expertise, transmission and interconnection experience, load / gen co-location domain knowledge, and keen communication skills to persuade critical partners and stakeholders (such as unsure customers, ISO / RTO / utility / coop decision makers, landowners, local government leaders, etc.) to support our novel projects. The ideal employee has grit, intelligence, a collaborative spirit, and a willingness and capability to push through barriers. This role requires advanced communication and relationship building skills to bridge the gap across the NextEra matrix organization, customers, suppliers, regulators, and other stakeholders. Position-Specific Functions Include :
Coordinates technical assessment of the transmission system and NextEra generation resources to identify optimal load locations.
Work with development teams to influence siting of large loads and retail energy partnerships
Prepares initial load service requests for submission to load serving entities
Progress load service requests through various phases of utility and ISO study, up to final approval
Identify complimentary generation assets to supplement load service requests
Regularly report status of load projects to senior business and commercial leadership
Job Overview
Employees in this role develop and execute plans for new and enhanced generation projects. This job is responsible for resource allocation, schedules, cost and technical adequacy, ensuring the project or transaction is completed in the most cost-effective and competitive manner. This position manages all aspects of the business deal and ensures the project is completed on time and within budgetary constraints.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Manages all aspects of the day-to-day transaction process to ensure timely completion as well as a cost-effective and competitive result
Leads and coordinates key functions such as financial feasibility analyses, engineering / design, project legal review, permitting activities and financial negotiations
Responsible for managing multiple and complex projects
Coordinates due diligence activities with other internal groups to ensure proper analysis and structuring of assigned projects
Acts as liaison between internal and external specialists regarding procurement, contracting, permitting and interconnection
Constructs contractual arrangements for project development
Negotiates agreements with consultants and subcontractors
Ensures compliance with applicable technical and regulatory requirements
Fosters external relationships with customers, third parties and members of the community
Performs other job-related duties as assigned
