Job Description
As a Complex Claims Specialist at NextEra Energy, you will play a critical role in resolving complex claims related to property damages. Your primary responsibilities will include investigating and evaluating each assigned claim to determine liability, bills, and/or negotiating satisfactory settlements. You will also provide support and assistance to company attorneys throughout the claims litigation process, including court testimony. In addition, you will assist peers and new Specialists, as well as provide support and assistance to Service Centers to resolve claims matters.
You will be responsible for maintaining accurate and updated claim files throughout the life of the claim. You will also perform pre and post-binding claim audits as needed and communicate the audit results to appropriate internal and external stakeholders. Furthermore, you will advise claims management on strategy for complex loss matters. Additional job duties may include performing other job-related tasks as assigned and necessary.
To excel in this role, you will need to possess excellent analytical and negotiation skills, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment. You must also demonstrate an in-depth understanding of coverage issues, policy forms, contracts, regulatory requirements, and changing legal landscape for specialty line claims. You will need to maintain excellent communication and writing skills, with a strong business acumen and ability to collaborate with other departments, business partners, and vendors. You should also be able to resolve complex claims with minimal supervision.
Requirements:
A valid Driver's License (NON CDL), High School Grad/GED, and 1 years of experience in claims adjusting, risk management, or a related field are required. A Bachelor's Degree is preferred but not necessary.
