NextGen’s practice in Digital Engineering (DE) is growing. As such, we are seeking to hire a Technical Lead for DE Systems Engineering with experience in modeling and simulation and / or digital engineering. NextGen’s DE team builds high fidelity Digital Twins employing Model Based Systems Engineer (MBSE) approaches in support of new systems development for commercial and DoD / Intel customers. Selected engineers will collaborate with fellow DE colleagues to solve complex technical tasks while becoming experts with and deploying cutting edge modeling and analysis tools. Responsibilities :
Lead a cross-functional team include MBSE, MS&A, domain SMEs, software and platform engineers to develop cutting edge software solutions for DoD mission critical programs of record, ranging from C2 to intel to acquisition
Develop program roadmap and manage expectations with customer
Deliver modeling simulation and analysis (MS&A) integrating Cameo / SysML, Cameo Simulation Toolkit, ModelCenter and / or AGI STK tools and outputs
Apply knowledge of model-based languages such as UAF and SysML
Utilize MBSE tools such as MagicDraw / Cameo and MS&A tools to develop detailed models that integrate sub-system models across multiple domains (avionics, RF, EW, communication, aerodynamics, acoustics, EMI, human factors, etc.)
Lead development of high-fidelity Comms modeling capabilities including emulation
Lead development of automation capabilities and tying the Digital Thread
Lead system engineering activities : trade studies, functional analysis, requirement decomposition / allocation, interface definition and specifications.
Work within an Agile Project Management framework and DevSecOps culture
Collaborate across stakeholders including customers, teammates and partners
Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering or similar
7 years of systems and or software engineering experience with the DoD
5 years leading complex DoD projects for software and / or model development
3 years working in Digital Engineering including MBSE and / or MS&A
Solid understanding of systems lifecycle processes with Comms, RF or mission experience
Experience developing conceptual, logical, physical (MBSE) or analytical models (MS&A)
Ability to develop systems deliverables, to include requirements, CONOPs, IDD / ICDs, SDDs, test plans / procedures
Experience in Agile software systems development
Ability to work closely with software engineers to evolve the systems architecture
Ability to analyze problems with a flexible and creative approach, manage complex tasks and adapt to rapidly changing requirements
Ability to learn new technologies rapidly and implement in a dynamic environment
Verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and customer-facing skills
Desired Qualifications :
Experience leading team of 8-10 engineers and balancing stakeholders
Experience with SysML using Cameo / MagicDraw, Cameo Simulation Toolkit, Model Center and / or AGI SAM, Rhapsody or Sparx Enterprise Architect
Experience with DoDAF (either UDPM and / or UAF)
Experience with GOTS MS&A tools (AFSIM, EWIRDB / TMAP or similar)
Experience with COTS MS&A tools : AGI STK, Phoenix ModelCenter, Dassault SOLIDWORKS, Keysight EXata, SystemVue or similar)
Experience developing CAD or CAE models
Experience with one or more of the following programming languages : Java, Python, C
Experience with DevSecOps including use of CI / CD pipelines
Ability to develop new plugins / scripts for MBSE and MS&A tools / frameworks
Ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility
