What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mission M&S Engineer position at NextGen Federal Systems?
NextGen’s practice in Digital Engineering (DE) is growing. As such, we are seeking to hire Modeling & Simulation (M&S) Engineers with experience in modeling and simulation and/or digital engineering. NextGen’s DE team builds high fidelity Digital Twins employing Model Based Systems Engineer (MBSE) approaches in support of new systems development for commercial and DoD/Intel customers. Selected engineers will collaborate with fellow DE colleagues to solve complex technical tasks while becoming experts with and deploying cutting edge modeling and analysis tools. \n- Must be able to obtain a DoD Clearance (U.S. citizenship is required)
- Some limited travel may be required (10% or less)
- Work on a cross-functional team to develop cutting-edge software solutions for DoD mission-critical programs, including communications and threat systems
- Conduct modeling and simulation of communication systems, focusing on waveform generation, antenna characteristics, and link budgets
- Incorporate physics level models into mission models
- Development of code to enable rapid development of scenarios and interfaces
- Use constructive sim tools such as STK and AFSIM to analyze system performance
- Develop, verify and optimize simulation environments for communications systems
- Collaborate with teammates, customers, and partners in an Agile environment
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field
- 5 years of experience in Modeling & Simulation with a focus on mission level models
- Experience with AFSIM, STK, or similar M&S tools for system performance analysis
- Proficiency in developing simulation models for threat systems including EW, platform motion, communications systems, including RF waveforms/antennas and link budgets
- Experience using Python and C for simulation framework and automation purposes
- Work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and adapt to changing technical requirements
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
- SME with communication systems design, including RF waveform modeling, antenna modeling, and link budget analysis
- Knowledge of threat systems including Electronic Attack (EA) techniques
- Experience with threat data sources such as EWIRDB or TMAP
- Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies.
- Ability to develop automated scripts and plugins to enhance M&S capabilities
