Part-Time Indoor Drone System Operator
Location: Cranbury, New Jersey (On-site Warehouse)
Schedule: Monday–Friday | Evening Shift (Approx. 6 PM–12 AM)
Hours: 15–30 hours per week
Job Overview:
Nokia Bell Labs’ AIMS (AI/ML Incubation Solutions) group is launching a cutting-edge commercial drone system to automate warehouse operations. We are seeking two part-time, on-site Drone System Operators to assist with the evening drone monitoring and setup operations at a large customer warehouse in Cranbury, NJ.
This is a unique opportunity to work directly with Nokia’s internal R&D incubation team and contribute to real-world applications of autonomous drone technology. Excellent for students or individuals looking for part-time work in the tech industry with potential for future full-time roles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Initiate and monitor autonomous drone flights via laptop
- Set up and dismantle drone and wireless equipment daily
- Swap drone batteries, relocate drones, and ensure proper operation
- Record flight and warehouse data; generate MS Office reports
- Communicate with AIMS engineers and warehouse staff
- Escalate and report issues using a defined protocol
Shift Details:
- Each shift is approximately 6 hours, Monday through Friday
- Flexibility required: shifts start after warehouse closes (between 4–6 PM)
- Total of 30 hours/week available, split between 2 candidates
- Ideal for alternating weeks or shared daily shifts (e.g., 15 hours per person/week)
Qualifications:
- Must be reliable, responsible, and capable of working independently
- Comfortable using laptops, setting up WiFi routers, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Must be physically able to move equipment and perform warehouse tasks
- Must work on-site in Cranbury, NJ (this is not a remote role)
Preferred (but not required):
- FAA UAV Drone Pilot License
- Experience with computer networking or software development
- Technical/IT degree or currently enrolled in a related Bachelor's program
Additional Information:
- Health benefits are not included due to part-time status
