We are hiring for Network Engineer - III - Basking Ridge, NJ(Hybrid)
Job Description:
We are seeking a Network Engineer - III to join our team in Basking Ridge, NJ. This position will involve configuring, administering, and troubleshooting network systems, with a particular focus on security platforms, firewalls, routers, and switches. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of networking protocols, virtualization technologies, and security management, along with the ability to independently manage complex projects.
Responsibilities:
- Firewall & Security Management: Configure and administer firewalls and related security platforms for production environments. Ensure seamless integration with management and monitoring systems.
- Network Infrastructure: Manage power, space, and network address allocation tools. Create and manage work orders for physical equipment installation (rack and stack) and Layer1 cabling.
- Performance Metrics: Review performance metrics to ensure service levels are maintained and configuration audits are conducted to minimize deltas.
- Methodology Development: Develop and manage methods of procedures (MOPs) for implementation, ensuring proper documentation and execution.
- Technical Support: Provide high-tier technical support for operations and engineering teams regarding security and networking issues.
- Vendor Coordination: Interface with vendors to confirm developed procedures and troubleshoot impact events.
- Project Management: Lead technical discussions, track progress, and manage milestones within both in-team and cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery.
- Documentation & Troubleshooting: Provide advanced technical documentation, troubleshoot network devices, and utilize session traces and packet captures to assist in root cause analysis.
Must-Have Skills:
- Networking Equipment: Advanced knowledge and experience configuring routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and other Enterprise & Carrier-Class network devices.
- Scripting Languages: Proficiency in scripting languages such as Unix, Perl, Java, Python, or similar.
- Virtualization & Automation: Strong understanding of virtualization and automation technologies.
- Technical Documentation: Advanced experience writing and maintaining configuration procedures and documentation, including Visio diagrams.
- Troubleshooting: Experience in troubleshooting network devices and using tools like session traces and packet captures for root cause analysis.
- Project Management & Communication: Strong project management, organizational, and communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to multitask across several high-visibility projects.
Desired Skills:
- Networking Protocols: Knowledge of IP addressing (IPv4 and IPv6), SNMP (v2 & v3), BGP/OSPF, MPLS, VPN concepts, and QoS/CoS.
- Networking Technologies: Expertise in L2 Switching, Layer1 cabling (Copper & Fiber), and Media Standards.
- Vendor Experience:
- Required: Experience with Juniper JunOS and Cisco IOS.
- Preferred: Experience with F5 LTM/AFM/BigIP/BigIQ and Juniper ScreenOS.
Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Technology.
